A bit about me...

I have been making art my whole life. Through the years I’ve worked in various media, including oils, clay, photography, stained glass and now metal. The techniques and aesthetics learned from these different methods inform my work as a metalsmith.

Every piece is a journey from inception to completion. Judi Goldblatt Studio designs often begin with shapes and forms inspired from the world around me. They take on a life of their own as they become themselves, telling me which direction they should go as I work them. With concepts garnered from diverse art forms, such as composition, painterliness, line and light, I’m balancing and blending metal and stone.

Sheet and wire, hammer and fire; these are the four main tools of fabrication. While utilizing many techniques, I primarily hand fabricate, producing jewelry designs that are comfortable to wear and beautifully crafted. I adore watching people light up when they've found that special piece and it fits them perfectly. Judi Goldblatt Studio creates styles that are unique and will compliment your wardrobe for years to come.

No matter the medium, I really enjoy the process of making things, whether it’s stretching canvas and mixing paints, or hammering wire and designing stone settings. My brain loves solving the “problem” and I enjoy the experience on the way. I delight in learning new techniques and materials.

I live in Portland.
